During the course of the summer, 4-H Camp Sacandaga will be presenting "theme" courses. These courses are designed to offer children opportunities to try new things and to experience different cultural and historical aspects of the Adirondack's. Themes are in addition to normal camp activities. Campers can sign up for special events and classes that are only offered during these weeks.

"Friends Around The World"

During this  week children will explore a variety of international cultures including their customs, crafts and traditions. Teams of campers will represent different nations in a camp Olympics event.

"Environmental Stewardship"

Explore the constant balance of nature in the Adirondacks. Campers will participate in special Environmental Awareness classes, examine different ecosystems ( such as a bog, a lake and the forests in the area surrounding the camp), and watch presentations from the Department of Environmental Conservation on rehabilitated animals. Live animal demonstrations will be part of the program. An Ornithology lesson will also be a component of this theme week, where campers interested in learning more about birds will be able to construct bird houses, go on bird watching hikes, watch and identify birds from a bird blind, and hike in the early morning on a bird walk. Campers will also play 'Predator / Prey', and all camp tag game where children "become" part of the food chain.
